Sabine National Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to Sabine National Wildlife Refuge, an oasis of wetlands, coastal prairies, and freshwater and brackish water marshes, located in southwest Louisiana near the Texas State Line.
Refuge History: The Sabine National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1937 in order to provide habitat for migratory waterfowl and other species of birds. The refuge walkway and visitor center make it one of the top tourist attractions in southwest Louisiana and over 280,000 people visit each year.
Wildlife: The Sabine National Wildlife Refuge helps protect the habitat of numerous wild critters including alligators and migratory birds. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this refuge boasts the 1.5 mile Wetland Walkway and over 150 miles of waterways. Come on out and explore.
