Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge, a productive oasis of grassy uplands and shallow marshes located on the Pacific Flyway in northern California and southern Oregon.
Refuge History: Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge was established by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908 as the first waterfowl refuge in the nation. Today it is listed as both a National Historic Landmark and National Natural Landmark in the National Register of Historic Places and boasts a breathtaking view of 14,000-foot Mount Shasta.
Wildlife: Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including sandhill cranes, bald eagles, tundra swans, egrets, white pelicans, and seagulls.
