Manitoba Provincial Parks
Welcome to Manitoba's beautiful, grand, and historic Duck Mountain Provincial Park, a wilderness of forested hills and valleys that were once part of an ancient seabed as well as carved out by glacial retreat of Lake Agassiz at the end of the last ice age thousands of years ago. This park also has a human history of Native-Americans that dates back long enough to where they hunted mammoths.
Fishing: The glacial retreat carved out many lakes in the landscape and each year these lakes are stocked with trout making this a place where anglers come from many miles around. Come out and cast a line.
Hiking: Duck Mountain Provincial Park boasts many miles of backcountry wilderness trails. Be sure to bring a water bottle and some trail mix and keep an eye out for moose, timber wolves, coyotes, foxes, and black bears. Please treat their home with respect when visiting.
Scuba: The cold interior Canadian wilderness is one of the last places in the world people would expect to go scuba-diving. However, for those who remembered to bring their scuba gear and their wet suits Duck Mountain offers them three crystal clear lakes that are great for diving. These lakes are East Blue Lake, West Blue Lake, and Childs Lake.
Other great activities in this park include great canoeing opportunities, bird-watching, and so much more. Come out and explore.
