Welcome to Fort Williams Park located on Maine's Atlantic coast in the town of Cape Elizabeth. This Fort was first established by President William McKinley in 1899 and named after Brevet Major General Seth Williams. During World War II this Fort served as a great asset to the United States Military. The fort officially closed in 1963 and 18 months later the Town of Cape Elizabeth purchased the land for $200K. Today this park is a popular hiking, biking, and cross country skiing destination and helps protect the oldest lighthouse in the State of Maine. Come on out and have fun. The picnic area does have grills. To reserve a facility please call 207-799-4151.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on June 15, 2015.
