Harbor Island National Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to Harbor Island National Wildlife Refuge, an island wilderness located in the Potagannissing Bay on Lake Huron.
Refuge History: In 1983 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service purchased this land from the Nature Conservancy and Harbor Island National Wildlife Refuge was established.
Flora and Fauna: Harbor Island National Wildlife Refuge helps protect the home of numerous plant and animal species. Some of the plants that grow on this island include sugar maples, red oaks, white cedars, balsam firs, and many others. Some of the wild critters who call this place home include foxes, snowshoe hares, eagles, magnolia warblers, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
