Welcome to Beaver Creek Valley State Park located in the scenic blufflands of southeastern Minnesota. Beaver Creek State Park is known for it's many small rivers that are fed by the parks "Big Spring" and serve as the home to various species of trout. In the springtime, when the wildflowers begin to bloom, many migratory songbirds nestle in Beaver Creek Valley State Park including rare species such as the Louisiana waterthrush, Cerulean warbler, and Acadian flycatcher. Some of the park's other wildlife critters include foxes, minks, badgers, muskrats, raccoons, deer, and the timber rattlesnake. Please treat their home with respect.
Park History: Before the arrival of European settlers this land was the site of a Native American village. When European settlers arrived they took advantage of the lands many rivers and fertile soils and built many mills. The park has a unique geological history in that it lies in one of the sections of Minnesota that was relatively untouched by glacial activity at the end of the last ice age. However, the waters of the melting glaciers did carve out valleys and helped to expose layers of sandstone and dolomite which were deposits of an inland sea over 450 million years ago.
For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts over eight miles of hiking trails, a picnic area, a volleyball court, and dozens of campsites (16 of them have electricity as well as a 55 max limit on RV's). Come on out and have fun.
