Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge located in McGregor, Minnesota.
Refuge History. The earliest human inhabitants of this land took advantage of the abundant rice crop around the shores of Rice Lake for thousands of years. The rice also helps to feed thousands of migratory birds. Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1985 and has been designated as a Globally Important Bird Area by the American Birding Association.
Wildlife: Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including northern owls, black bears, and wolves. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this refuge boasts a fishing lake stocked with northern pike, hiking trails, and so much more. Come on out and have a blast!
