Welcome to Louis H. Bangert Memorial Wildlife Area, an island on the Missouri River located in Saint Charles, Missouri. Preserve History: This beautiful island preserve is managed by both St. Charles County as well as the State of Missouri. It was first donated by Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kurtz in 1976 in honor of Mrs. Kurtz's father Louis H. Bangert.
Flora and Fauna: Louis H. Bangert Memorial Wildlife Area helps protect the home of numerous wild animals including raccoons, white-tailed deer, possums, and wild turkeys. Some of the plants that grow here include maples, cottonwoods, willows, and sycamores. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this preserve boasts over two and a half miles of multipurpose trails and much more. Come on out and explore!
