Bienville National Forest
Welcome to the Bienville National Forest, spanning across Scott, Smith, Jasper, and Newton Counties in central Mississippi.
Forest History: Before the forest became Uncle Sam's land it was heavily logged by various timber companies. In 1934, the United States Government purchased many acres from the timber companies in order to protect wildlife habitat and restore the forest. The Civilian Conservation Corps did much of the restoration work and helped build the forest's facilities.
Wildlife: Bienville National Forest, located roughly 500 feet ASL and receiving upwards of 60 inches of rain per year helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including deer, foxes, squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors Bienville National Forest boasts fishing lakes, many miles of multipurpose trails, and so much more. Come on out and have a blast!
