DeSoto National Forest
Welcome to the DeSoto National Forest, an oasis of pine forests, cypress swamps, and streams across the gently rolling hills of southern Mississippi. DeSoto National Forest boasts the only two wilderness areas in the State of Mississippi, the Leaf and Black Creek Wilderness Areas as well as the only National Scenic River in the State, Black Creek.
Wildlife: DeSoto National Forest is home to numerous wild critters including deer, raccoons, squirrels, alligators, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors DeSoto National Forest boasts over 170 miles of multipurpose trails including two National Recreation Trails, several campgrounds, and so much more. Come on out and have a blast!
