Welcome to the Helena National Forest, a nearly one million acre oasis situated along the continental divide in west-central Montana. This forest is rich in both wildlife, as well as human history including cliff paintings and ruins of old mines. A few of this forests many landscapes include the Elkhorn Mountains, the banks of the Missouri river headwaters, and the Congressionally Designated wilderness areas of the Scapegoat Wilderness and Gates of the Mountains Wilderness.
For the lover of the outdoors, this forest boasts over 1,000 miles of multipurpose trails including 80 miles of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. Come on out and have a blast!
