Gastonia's Erwin Park is named after Herbert Erwin, the first African American to practice medicine in Gaston County. Aside from being a physician Erwin himself was also very active in youth sports and recreation. This park was first established in 1961 and today all of it's athletic facilities are lighted so people can play at night. To speak to the staff or reserve one of the facilities please call 704-866-6844.
This was RecPlanet place of the day on December 29, 2016.
