The original owners of this land, the Lineburger Family, gave it to the city back in 1928, making Lineburger Park Gastonia's oldest recreation area. Some of it's earliest facilities were built by the Works Progress Administration during The Great Depression under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It's full basketball court is lighted so people can play at night and the aquatic center is a great place to go on hot summer days.
