Chimney Rock National Historic Site
Welcome to Nebraska's famous and iconic Chimney Rock National Historic Site located in the western part of the state near Bayard. Chimney Rock, which is made of brule clay and volcanic ash that is 23 to 34 million years old rises over 480 feet above the surrounding plains and was one of the most famous landmarks for people traveling on the Oregon Trail as well as California and Mormon Trails.
