North Platte National Wildlife Refuge
Located in the panhandle region of Nebraska, North Platte National Wildlife Refuge was first established by President Woodrow Wilson back in 1917 and like many other refuges, it was established for the purpose of protecting habitat for migratory waterfowl. It is still a great bird-watching destination today with over 200 known species including red-tailed hawks, American Kestrels, and Bald Eagles. Some of the terrestrial wildlife include mule deer, striped skunks, and yellow bellied racers. Come out and do some wildlife viewing or some fishing on Lake Alice.
