Welcome to Clayton Park. This beautiful park, nestled in the farmlands of Monmouth County can make the visitor feel like he/she is many miles from civilization even though it is located in one of the most densely populated states in the United States. Much of the park's vegetation consists of red oaks, white oaks, birches, ashes, and beeches.
Park History: Monmouth County purchased the first 176 acres of Clayton Park in 1978 from a farmer named Paul Clayton and his daughter Thelma. Clayton sold the land to the county at a price below market value and refused many previous offers from people interested in harvesting the trees. Clayton was truly a man who loved his land and wanted it to stay undeveloped.
For the lover of the outdoors Clayton Park boasts over six miles of multipurpose trails and so much more. Come on out and explore.
