Cibola National Forest
Welcome to the Cibola National Forest located in the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico. The forest's landscapes range in elevation from as low as 5,000 feet ASL to as high as 11,301 feet ASL and include the mountain ranges of Zuni, San Mateo, Sandia, Manzano, Datil, Magdalena, Bear, and Mt. Taylor.
Forest History: Cibola National Forest was born out of the combination of smaller forest reserves in the early part of the 20th century. The name Cibola, is believed to the the name that the Zuni tribe gave to this land.
Wildlife: The deserts and juniper pine and spruce fir forests of Cibola National Forest help protect the home of numerous wild critters including deer, elk, bears, mountain lions wild turkeys, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
