Welcome to El Vado Lake State Park nestled in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. This park is a popular water-sports destination and anglers can hope to catch salmon and trout. Hikers can enjoy a 5.5 mile trail that circles the lake and connects to the nearby Heron Lake. This park is home to numerous birds of prey including ospreys and bald eagles. Please treat their home with respect.

Park History: Before El Vado Lake was created, there existed a small town known as El Vado, New Mexico. El Vado was a big railroad and lumber town and the largest in the county at the time. There is much fun to be had. Come on out and have fun.

To contact the park's office please call 575-588-7247.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on December 6, 2015.
