Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge, a sprawling oasis of high desert, rolling hills, narrow gorges, and lush springs located in northwest Nevada. The refuge's elevation ranges from as high as 7,200 feet to as low as 4,100 feet and rainfall rarely exceeds over 12 inches per year. Aside from the scenic canyons and desert vistas visitors can also catch a glimpse of old ranches and homesteads.
Refuge Wildlife: The Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including bighorn sheep and coyotes. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this refuge boasts many miles of multipurpose trails, three fishing reservoirs (non-motorized or electric motors only) and many places to camp out under the stars. Come on out and explore.
