Jesse Owens Playground is a Brooklyn Park named for Jesse Owens, we well renouned African-American and one of the greatest athletes of the 20th Century. James Cleveland Owens was born in Alabama and was part of the great influx of African-Americans who moved to the north, in his case to Cleveland, Ohio where he eventually became a middle school teacher and coach.
