Welcome to New York City's James A. Bland Playground located in Queens. This park is named for a great African-American who some call "the greatest black writer of American folk songs and the world's greatest minstrel man." Bland grew up in Washington DC and attended Howard University. His musical career helped make him popular even overseas.
