New York State Forests
Welcome to New York's Vandermark State Forest located in Allegheny County. This is a land of many uses by providing forest products for New York's economy, miles of multipurpose trails for all seasons, and habitat for wild turkeys, rabbits, white tailed deer, raccoons, squirrels, and numerous birds of prey. Snowmobiles are allowed on the trails, forest roads, and old gas roads located in Vandermark State Forest but ATV's are prohibited. Like many State Forests Vandermark State Forest was purchased by the State of New York during the Great Depression era and many of it's amenities were built by members of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps.
