Welcome to Lake County's Paine Falls Park. First established in 1974, this beautiful park was named for one of the region's early white settlers, Colonel Hedrick Paine. Paine first moved to the area in 1818 and built a small log cabin but with the help of a man named Samuel Phelps, he built a small industrial village that eventually included a sawmill, an iron furnace, a wagonmaker, a blacksmith, and a school house. In the 1850's however, the town's prosperity declined and the citizens moved to other nearby cities. Today this park boasts hiking trails, a waterfall, and picnic tables. Come on out and have fun.
