Tennessee State Forests

Welcome to Tennessee's Chuck Swan State Forest!

Forest History: The land that is now Chuck Swan State Forest was once owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority who purchased the land for the Norris Dam Project. In 1952 the TVA sold the land to the State of Tennessee with the condition that the forest be used for recreation and other purposes. Much of the land was once used for agricultural purposes and has been reforested over the years.

Flora and Fauna: Chuck Swan State Forest helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the forest boundaries include loblolly pines, white pines, oaks, and hickories. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include white-tailed deer, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, foxes, and hawks. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors Chuck Swan State Forest multipurpose trails, caves to be explored, and much more. Come on out and explore!
