Prentice Cooper State Forest
Welcome to Prentice Cooper State Forest located in the Tennessee River Gorge not far from spectacular Chattanooga.
Forest History: This heavily used State Forest was purchased by the State of Tennessee between 1938 and 1944 and was declared a State Forest in 1945. This forest serves many uses but over 30% of it is conservation areas where use is limited.
Wildlife: Prentice Cooper State Forest helps protect the home of numerous wild animals including white-tailed deer, bears, squirrels, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, rabbits, wild turkeys, and hawks. Please treat their home with respect.
