Nestled just outside of Dallas is Fort Richardson State Park. This historically significant State Park offers you a glimpse into preserved Texan Civil War history.

You can walk the park’s grounds and see the seven original buildings that have been restored, with an additional two replicas of barracks. The park also hosts special events such as military reenactments, BBQ cook-offs, fishing tournaments, and living history presentations.

The Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway is also on site, offering a 9-mile scenic glimpse into the two nearby city lakes' main watershed.

There’s a free guided tour, one at 10 am and 2 pm, that allows you to enter the historic buildings. Tours usually last about two hours, so bring your walking shoes!

Entrance is $4 for adults, but it’s free for children under 12. Please note that you need to reserve a pass online or call their customer service beforehand to enter.

To contact the park office please call 940-567-3506.
