Welcome to San Antonio's Freidrich Wilderness Park, a place that is known around the world for it's marvelous Bird-Watching opportunities. The land's previous owner, Norma Freidrich Ward, signed an agreement to pass the land onto the City of San Antonio when she passed away. In 1971, she passed away and the land now belonged to the city. In 1978, after several years of planning, the park opened to the public. Today this park's canyons, hills, and orchids offer numerous opportunities for the human visitor and also helps protect wildlife habitat. Come on out and explore!
This was RecPlanet place of the day on July 27, 2015.
