Welcome to the beautiful Stephen F. Austin State Park located in San Felipe Texas on the banks of the Brazos River. It was here in the early 19th century where Stephen Austin, considered "the father of Texas" brought the first 297 families to colonize Texas under a contract with the Mexican Government. So many historic events occured in the region over the years that it has become known as the "Cradle of Texas Liberty." In more recent times the San Felipe de Austin Corporation gave this land to the State of Texas in 1940. Today this park offers geocaching opportunities, excellent bird-watching, multipurpose trails, and more. Come out and explore!
