Park History: The human history of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area dates back more than 11,500 years ago and covered the Paleoindian, Archaic, Preformative, Formative, Late Prehistoric, Protohistoric, and Historic Periods.
Flora and Fauna: Glen Canyon National Recreation Area helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the park boundaries include desert dandelions, Douglas Firs, Rocky Mountain Maples, and milkweeds. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include kangaroo rats, pocket mice, jackrabbits, bats, bobcats, coyotes, owls, bald eagles, and golden eagles. Please treat their home with respect.
