Welcome to Mason Neck State Park located in suburban Washington in Fairfax County!

Park History: The Mason Neck Conservation Committee was formed in 1965 after two Bald Eagles were sited building nests on the land. The committee was concerned about the encroaching growth of suburban DC and recommended that a section of the land be made into a State Park. With the help of federal grants and the nature conservancy the State of Virginia began to purchase land in 1967 and the place was saved from proposed roads, landfills, pipelines, and airports.

Today the park offers habitat for Eagles and other species of birds. The park also boasts multipurpose trails as well as carry-in boat launches. Come on out and explore!
