Welcome to the Prince Edward-Gallion State Forest located on Virginia's Piedmont! Forest History: In 1919 a man named Emmett Gallion donated 588 acres to the State of Virginia in order to promote forest conservation. In the 1930's the Federal Government purchased the surrounding lands that had been over-farmed and they began to slowly turn back to their natural state. Today many pieces of agricultural history including cemeteries and old farmhouses can be seen throughout the forest. Today the forest offers over 8 miles of trails and camping is available at the nearby Twin Lakes State Park. Come on out and have a blast!
