Welcome to the historic Great Shiplock Park in Richmond, Virginia. It was here in the mid 19th century that the 7 mile Kanawha Canal System was finally completed. Come out for some great fishing as well as access to the Virginia Canal Trail.
When visiting any park in Richmond, Virginia it is important to know the rules.
*All parks are open from dawn until dusk unless otherwise posted.
*The following are all prohibited; alcoholic beverages, glass containers, golfing, archery, defacing public property.
*All animals must be leashed and waste removed. And with the exception of service animals dogs are only allowed at the following parks; Byrd Park, Chimborazoo Dog Park, Barker Field Dog Park, Forest Hill Park.
*All fires are restricted to fire pits and picnic grills.
*The following require special permits, stages, amplified sound, tents, conducting of sales, etc.
