Barre Town Forest, located in Barre, Vermont, is the site of an old granite quarry that was first opened in 1790. In 2013 the Vermont Chapter of the Trust for Public Land teamed up with the U.S. Forest Service as well as private individuals to secure the purchase of this land. This park's trails are open year round for activities such as hiking, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. It protects wildlife habitat for red-tailed hawks, white-tailed deer, raccoons, grey squirrels, foxes, and many others.
