Welcome to Vermont's Camel's Hump State Park.

Park History: The way this park received her unique name dates back to Native American times. The Waubanaukee tribe named this peak "Tah-wak-be-dee-ee" which translates to "Saddle Mountain." Some of the earlier Europeans to enter the region in the 17th century came under the guidance of Samuel de Champlain and named it "lion couchant" which is French for "resting lion." Near the end of the 18th century a man named Ira Allen drew a map of the region and named the peak Camel's Rump which was finally changed to Camel's Hump in 1830. In 1911, a man named Colonel Joseph Battell generously donated the land to the State of Vermont.

For the lover of the outdoors Camel's Hump State Park boasts the Burrows and Monroe hiking trails, beautiful scenery, and so much more. Come on out and have a nice adventure.
