Welcome to Vermont's Camp Plymouth State Park.

Park History: Camp Plymouth State Park is rich in a history that goes back to the 18th century before the United States was born. A military road that was built in order to transport goods and soldiers between Charleston and Crown Point cut through the land that is now Camp Plymouth State Park. In the mid 19th century a man named Amos Pollard set up a farm on this land and in 1850 a man fishing in Buffalo Brook discovered gold. His attemps to keep the gold secret failed and 5 years after the discover the river was renamed Gold Brook and a mining operation was put into the works. The Rooks Mining Company was reported to have earned $13K in just 6 months in the year 1884. The Rooks company went out of business in 1889 and superintendent Henry Fox purchased the mine where he would continue the search for gold for the next 30 years until he passed away in 1919.

In 1925 a girls summer camp was established on the land and eventually sold it to the Boy Scouts of America in 1927 who named the place Camp Plymouth. In 1984, the Ottaquechee Land Trust helped bring this land into the hands of the Vermont State Government.

For the lover of the outdoors Camp Plymouth State Park boasts campsites, hiking trails, and so much more. Come on out and explore!
