Olympic National Forest
Welcome to the Olympic National Forest located on the Olympic Peninsula in northwest Washington not far from Olympic National Park. The five major landscapes of Olympic National Forest are rugged mountains, large lowland lakes, temperate rain forest, saltwater beaches, and flowing rivers.
Forest History: Olympic National Forest was established in 1897 as the Olympic Forest Reserve before it became the Olympic National Forest a decade later in 1907. Long before the arrival of European settlers this region was home to numerous Native American tribes including the Hoh, Quileute, and Skokomish tribes.
Flora and Fauna: Olympic National Forest helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the boundaries include. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include northern spotted owls, bald eagles, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
