Welcome to Alta Lake State Park located near Pateros, Washington. Alta Lake State Park forms a transition zone between desert and mountains pine forests.
Park History: In 1951, the land that is now Alta Lake State Park was generously donated to the State of Washington by the town of Pateros. The lake got it's name in 1900 from a miner who named it after it's daughter Alta Heinz.
Flora and Fauna: Alta Lake State Park helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the park boundaries include birches, douglas firs, Ponderosa pines, roses, and maples. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include raccoons, squirrels, deer, chipmunks, coyotes, bobcats, and bears. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors Alta Lake State Park boasts awesome trout fishing, two campgrounds (32 of the sites are developed and 91 are primitive), two boat ramps, over two miles of trails, and so much more. Come on out and have a blast!
