Welcome to Seattle's Lakeridge Park. This urban forest oasis was once known as Dead Horse Canyon after local settler Chas Walker named it in 1909 after the community horse died here. In 1947 the City of Seattle renamed this place Lakeridge Park due to it's close proximity to Lake Washington. The thick forests here make for an adventurous hike. Come out and explore.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on February 22, 2015.
