Welcome to Tarkio Prairie Conservation Area located in Westboro, Missouri in Atchison County. This preserve helps protect one of the few known remaining high quality prairies in the glaciated plains of northern Missouri. There was a time when Atchison County was 83% prairie. The State of Missouri purchased the first parcel (160 acres) in 1985, the second parcel (400 acres) a decade later in 1995, and finally the third parcel (80 acres) in 2003.

Fishing and Hunting: Many Anglers come to Tarko Prairie Conservation Area to catch bass, catfish, and sunfish. Many Hunters come to for deer, quail, rabbit, and wild turkey.
