Welcome to Wisconsin's Council Grounds State Park located on the banks of the Wisconsin River near Merrill. For many years this was a city park known as Wildwood Park but was given to the State Government in 1938 and was considered a state forest for the next 40 years before being changed to a state park in 1978. As the name suggests, it is believed that this was once an important Native American meeting ground.

Boating: Come out and launch a watercraft and explore Lake Alexander. The lake's 217 foot swimming beach is popular on hot summer days.

Fishing: Some of the fish that live in the lake and river include walleye, black crappies, bluegills, northern pike, and small mouth bass.
