Welcome to the Flambeau River State Forest!

Forest History: In 1930 3,600 acres were purchased by the State of Wisconsin and Flambeau River State Forest was established. Today the forest is over 90,000 acres in size and provides habitat for many northern hardwood plants including red maple, sugar maple, white ash, and yellow birch, and animals such as black bears, wolves, raccoons, deer, ospreys, and bald eagles.

Today the forest offers numerous recreational opportunities including two family campgrounds and back-country camping by permit. The North Fork of the Flambeau River offers paddling opportunities for people of all skill levels. The forest also has miles of multipurpose trails to be used in all seasons. Come on out and have a blast!
