Thunder Basin National Grassland
Welcome to the Thunder Basin National Grassland, a wide open space on the plains of Wyoming.
Grassland History: In 1934, the Agricultural Adjustment Administration established the Thunder Basin National Grassland as the Northeastern Wyoming Land Utilization Project. Over the years the land was managed by the Bureau of Agriculture, Farm Security Administration, and Soil Conservation Service until finally being transferred to the U.S. Forest Service in 1954. In 1960, the land was re-named Thunder Basin National Grassland and granted permanent protection status.
This land when viewed up close is a lot more interesting than she looks from a distance. Come on out and have a blast!
