Welcome to Canada's Kluane National Park located in the northwestern corner of the country in the Yukon Territory. Kluane National Park is home to Mount Logan, Canada's highest peak, with a summit elevation of 19,545 feet above sea level. Many of the tallest peaks in North America are located inside Kluane National Park which is half-covered with snow and ice.
Park History: Some of the region's first inhabitants arrived here thousands of years ago after crossing the Bering Land Bridge. Their descendants are today's Aishihik, Champagne, and Kluane nations. These people learned many ways of survival in harsh climates over the years and also learned many things about the landscape. Today they still play a role in helping the Canadian Government protect this treasure.
Wildlife: The park's location in the climatic overlap of the Arctic and Pacific winds help make this park one of the most botanically diverse regions of northern Canada. The treeline varies between 1,050 and 1,200 meters depending on weather conditions and there are over 200 known species of alpine flora growing in the park. Some of the wild animals here include black bears, grizzly bears, coyotes, lynxes, otters, mountain goats, caribou, moose, and over 150 species of birds.
For the recreational enthusiast Kluane National Park offers rafting on the Alsek River, miles of multipurpose trails, breathtaking canoe trips, challenging peaks to climb, and more. Come out and explore!
