Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge

Activities:
Boating
Fishing

Welcome to Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge spanning across Mobile County, Alabama and Jackson County Mississippi along the Gulf coast.   Refuge History: Using the power of the 1986 Emergency Wetlands Resources act, the U.S. Government established Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge in 1992 in order to protect on of the largest untouched pine savanna habitats in the Gulf Coastal plain.

Wildlife: The bottomland hardwood forests and pine savannas of the Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge help protect the habitat of numerous wild critters including deer, beavers, coyotes, squirrels, raccoons, wild turkeys, and fish such as founders, mullets, and others. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors access to this refuge is fairly limited. Most entrances are accessible by watercraft only and are located on the Mississippi side. The refuge is open from dawn until dusk. Come on out and explore.
