Welcome to San Mateo County's Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve located in the hills above Redwood City, California. This beautiful park is famous for it's spring wildflowers and has a long geological history that dates back over 165 million years when two tectonic plates, the North American and Farallon converged in the region. The Farallon plate was moved under the North American plate by Earth's forces and left behind many serpentine rocks. The natural history of Edgewood Park includes numerous forest types including Neotropical and Madroteriary forests. The first known human inhabitants of this land were Native American groups who arrived over 6,000 years ago.
Today this park protects a landscape of wetlands, woodlands, and grasslands that give habitat to numerous wild animals including raccoons, coyotes, white-tailed deer, bobcats, and even some endangered plant species. Please treat their home with respect when visiting.
For the recreational enthusiast Edgewood Park boasts magnificent views of the Bay Area, the surrounding mountains, and Skyline Ridge. There are also miles of multipurpose trails just waiting to be explored. Come out and have fun!
