Jacksonville's Timuquana Park was first established in 1942 around the same time as the neavy Naval Air Base. The name Timuquana comes from the Timuqua people, a Native American tribe that once inhabited the region and met the first Europeans in the 1500's. This park is in a neighborhood with a very successfull neighborhood watch program making it a safe park for playing.
