Welcome to Gillette Castle State Park located in East Haddam, Connecticut. This beautiful stone castle was built by actor William Hooker Gillette many years ago. In 1943 the State of Connecticut purchased the land. 20 men built the castle out of local fieldstone over a span of 5 years from 1914-1919. Gillette himself was an intelligent man who attended classes at many schools including Harvard, Yale, and MIT.
