Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge

Welcome to the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, a beautiful and rugged island oasis off the southwest Alaskan coast.
Wildlife: This road-less refuge was first established in 1941 and it's hundreds of miles of coastline, lakes, meadows, towering mountains, and bogs help protect the home of numerous plant and animal species. Some of the plants that grow on the island include spruces, alders, and wildflowers. Some of the wild critters who call this place home include brown bears, bald eagles, ospreys, salmon, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this refuge boasts awesome wildlife viewing, rivers for rafting, and so much more. This refuge can only be accessed by boat or float plane. Come on out and explore. Kodiak is North America's second largest island yet nowhere on this island can one be more than 15 miles from the ocean.
