Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area

Palmer, Alaska

Welcome to Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area, formerly known as Kepler-Bradley Lakes State Recreation Area located not too far from Anchorage.

Trails: Many people in Anchorage and the surrounding areas come to this park for it's miles of multipurpose trails that are popular with both hikers and mountain bikers. The trails link up to the Moraine Trail System as well as the University of Alaska.

Fishing: The park's lakes were carved out by glacial retreat over 30,000 years ago and were big Native American fishing grounds long before the first white settlers entered the region. To this day it is still a great place for fishing.
