Wood-Tikchik State Park

Welcome to the largest State Park in the United States, Alaska's Wood-Tikchik State Park sprawling at nearly 1.6 million arcres! 

About Wood-Tikchik State Park: Wood Tikchik State Park was created in 1978 in order to protect the breeding areas of local fish and wildlife as well as to ensure the continuance of recreational activities. The park has a variety of landscapes inside what is called a biological transition zone between tundra and coniferous forest. Some of these landscapes include tundra, high mountain peaks, and gravel beaches. Some of the parks wildlife include brown bears, black bears, moose, caribou, elk, wolverines, minks, foxes, otters, beavers, porcupines, bald eagles, golden eagles, gulls, various species of trout and salmon, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.

The park also offers numerous recreational opportunities. To camp in various sections of the park a permit may need to be obtained and fires and motorized watercraft are also restricted to certain areas. Come on out and explore!
